"Hydrogen = Energy Independence"

In order to harness the tremendous power and opportunity locked away in the universe's smallest atom, we need BIG equipment. We need high tech. We need land, water and an abundant supply of natural resources. Additionally we need muscle, grit and determination. And we need reliable and consistent power. Hydrogen production starts on the ground with facilities and infrastructure to support the equipment that extracts hydrogen from other resources.

Here in Utah, we can extract hydrogen from water, oil, natural gas, coal, bio-mass, plastic, and even old tires and garbage from landfill waste products. Tires that have reached their end of  life (EOL) can be put through pyrolysis that results in the extraction of hydrogen, carbon, oil and other chemicals. A typical 27 lb car tire will yield almost a gallon of oil, 9 lbs of carbon and 2lbs of steel. A 150 lb truck tire will produce 5 gallons of oil, 60 lbs of carbon, 30 lbs of steel; while a 4 ton oversize dump truck tire will yield 1.6 tons of carbon, nearly 1 ton of steel and almost 400 gallons of oil. The pyrolysis process is not only emission-free, but the recycled oil can be used as the heat source for the production process. Imagine a world where garbage and disposables become a valuable commodity and not just buried and forgotten but truly recycled as a resource for clean burning and useful non-toxic fuel.

Sub bituminous coal, prevalent in Utah, has a 4% - 6% yield of clean hydrogen via coal gasification with CCU. Non-emissions SMR from abundant natural gas at our facility produces 99.99% hydrogen while recycling nearly 50% of the water via Reverse Osmosis (RO).

Hythonal Production Plant Phase 1pdfDownload PDF4.58 MBMany claim a singular advantage in producing hydrogen – either with technology(s), pricing, volume or systems. The opponents of hydrogen - and the media following in suit - have created a nonsensical color pallet to label the different systems and front-end energy supplies required to produce hydrogen. This same color defining scheme also applies to BEVs. We have taken a holistic approach in developing an all-encompassing solution to the equation.

Considering the increasing environmental destruction experienced across the planet – historical flooding; immense, long-duration wild fires, coupled with extreme mega droughts;  increasing severity of storms and hurricanes; apocalyptic cold and winter temperatures knocking out power like Texas experienced in 2020  – resolving the energy crisis, environmental and climate issues requires a reliable and proven solution that cannot take a decades to execute.

Therefore – a collective reasoning has to occur by utilizing ALL technologies available to produce multi-tonnage of hydrogen hourly while utilizing all feedstocks available. This includes fossil based resources as well, but with an eye on zero-emissions. Beginning with our multi-faceted Utah Hydrogen Project - we ensure zero emissions throughout our production. Due to the limitations of intermittent renewable energy and the land mass required to produce energy 24/7/365 to fulfill the multi-TWhs required to satisfy the ever growing demand for energy – our approach is using less to produce more reliably, cleanly, consistently.

Element One Technologies – over the past 5 years has organized a high-stakes consortium of global hydrogen related power companies, technology suppliers and logistical companies to collectively work together to produce, transport, distribute and store vast quantities of hydrogen that can be delivered locally, regionally, nationally or internationally.

The Utah Hydrogen Project: our multi-phase rollout begins in Central Utah with the world's first tri-fuel hydrogen based production facility. This innovative configuration of mostly existing leading technology will produce 99.99% pure Hydrogen, Hythanol® (a clean burning HyFuel and gasoline substitute) and HythanolPLUS, (a new clean burning bio-diesel fuel.) Together these fuels can totally eliminate GHG emissions using our hydrogen for power and transportation while the HyFuels can reduce particulate matter emissions by 95% and CO2 emissions by over 60% in existing ICEs with little or no modifications to the existing vehicle.

These solutions exist today. They can be rolled out immediately. We don't have to wait 10 years for deployment of a low and zero emission pathway, but can instantly start making significant cuts in GHG emissions WHILE maintaining a 100% non-emissions carbon capture and utilization strategy (CCU).
